Assistant Professor at the “Enzo Ferrari” Engineering Department of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. In 2006 he received the master’s degree cum Laude in Biomedical Engineering and in 2010 the PhD in Bioengineering both from the University of Bologna.
From 2010 to 2012 he worked in the Netherlands for Xsens Technologies, world leader in manufacturing inertial sensors and developing sensor fusion algorithms. From 2012 to 2019 he held a post-doctoral position at the University of Bologna and was scientific supervisor of the LAMBDA (Laboratorio Analisi Movimento Bambino Disabile) laboratory of the IRCCS Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova of Reggio Emilia. In 2015 he founded mHealth Technologies, a spin-off company of the University of Bologna. From 2020 he is head of the MS2 laboratory (Materials, Sensors and Systems) at the Science and Technology Park for Medicine Mario Veronesi, in Mirandola, Italy (https://tpm.bio/en/).
His main research activities, carried out in collaboration with national and international scientific institutions, mainly address the development of wearable sensors for gait and movement analysis, and more recently transversal studies in the biological and the biomaterials fields.
He is co-author of more than 60 peer-reviewed papers published on international journals, conference proceedings and book chapters, and author of one patent. He is member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and of the GMEE (Italian Group of Electrical and Electronic Measurements).
